A Lot in a Little Place

Skógar was a destination trip for us. I thought I was going to a museum to see a boat, but when we arrived there were many museums on one property and some pretty unique landscapes in the area. In one spot you can look in one direction and see the ocean, the other direction is glaciers, and in the foreground is lush green land with waterfalls along the edges. Even without the museums, this was a magical place.

We drove from the Reykjavik area and it was a few hours to get here. We drove slow and stopped along the way but, don't underestimate the time. Once you get here, you might like to see a lot of the other local sites like Sólheimajökull Glacier or the black beach at Dyrholaey.
