Bird Watching Paradise in Concord, MA
Great Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary is one of my favorite places to visit. We have been here many times. In the spring, the water is so high that the path around the water is submerged in several areas and the foot bridges can be washed out. In the summer, beautiful dragonflies zoom alongside you as you walk the loop. In the fall, the leaves begin to turn and their reflection makes the water look like it is on fire. In the winter you may have the whole place to yourself.
Many amazing birds visit the sanctuary and a pair of powerful binoculars is a definite must if you have some. Many enthusiasts set up along the loop trail to watch a diverse range of birds that land here. We have seen several types of heron, but even enjoy seeing the red winged blackbirds that jump along the tall grasses.

Getting There
The roads to the Refuge are marked on a sign on Route 62. Turn on to Monsen Road off of 62, and very quickly you will find a road/driveway to the parking area.
