BLM Land Camping
This park was a little tricky for us to figure out. Some parts are BLM land and some parts are National Parks Service. We think. We camped in the BLM Land camp ground somewhere along route 117 off of route 40. It is free, and there were only a few hunters spending the night in their trucks that evening. The toilets were primitive, and when we awoke at sunrise, everyone was already gone.
The camping area is convenient to the Narrows and La Ventana and the Ranger Station. We have actually camped here several times since on our way through and made time for a short hike in the area before we moved on to the next stop. It is higher on the convenience scale than it is on the amenities scale, but we like how it has always been clean and quiet.
