General Information
We visited Ecuador in 2005 after signing up for a trip to the Galapagos that included kayaking up close to the wildlife and living abord a catamaran with a small group of people. Since we had to fly to Quito, Ecuador before flying out to the Galapagos, and also return to the same point, I researched other things we could do while in Ecuador to extend our trip another day or two.
I found the Biking Dutchman and selected an easy day trip down a large volcano called Cotopaxi.
Ecuador is extremely diverse in the ecology, and in a day you can go from snow capped mountains to the ocean. The wildlife is ever present, and the landscape is rich in color and beauty. For a small country, there is a lot of diversity in both the land and the wildlife. As an example, for the birds, they have condors, humming birds, and penguins.
If we had the chance to return to Ecuador and to the Galapagos, we would go in a split second.
